Your privacy matters to us.
RaiseKnowledge is an independent review platform. We do not sell your personal data to any third party. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
We collect only what is necessary to operate RaiseKnowledge as a trusted review platform. Here is what we collect and when:
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as an encrypted hash). If you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name and email from Google.
The text, star rating, title, and any optional proof files you submit as part of a review. Review content is public once published and permanently associated with your account.
IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps. We also collect a device fingerprint hash via Fingerprint.js to detect and prevent fake review submissions.
Country-level location derived from your IP address. We use this to display relevant regional information and for fraud prevention. We do not collect precise GPS location.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:
Operating the platform — To create and manage your account, publish your reviews, enable voting and business replies, and provide the core review experience.
Platform integrity — To detect and prevent fake reviews, spam, and abuse using device fingerprinting and rate limiting. This protects the trust of every reviewer on the platform.
Transactional emails — To send you notifications you have opted into, such as replies to your reviews, claim approvals, or account security alerts. We do not send marketing emails without explicit consent.
Analytics — To understand how the platform is used in aggregate so we can improve it. We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not track individuals across sites.
Legal compliance — To comply with applicable laws and respond to valid legal requests from authorities where required.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party — ever.
When you submit a Verified review, you may optionally upload a proof document — a receipt, order confirmation screenshot, account email, or usage screenshot. This is how we award the Verified badge.
Proof files are treated with the highest level of privacy on our platform:
Private storage — All proof files are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket. They are never publicly accessible via a direct URL.
Admin-only access — Only authorised platform administrators can view proof files, and only for the purpose of verifying the review. Temporary signed URLs expire within 1 hour.
Never shown publicly — Proof files are never displayed to other users or businesses. The public only sees the Verified badge — not the document behind it.
Deletion on request — You may request deletion of your proof files at any time by contacting us. Note that deleting proof will downgrade your review badge from Verified to Unverified, but the review itself remains published.
RaiseKnowledge uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate. Each service is listed below along with what data it receives and why:
File Storage
Stores proof upload files privately. Files are never publicly accessible. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to file storage infrastructure.
Fraud Prevention
Generates an anonymous device fingerprint hash to detect and block fake review submissions. No personally identifiable information is stored from this process.
Transactional Email
Sends transactional emails such as review reply notifications and account security emails. Your email address is shared only for delivery purposes.
Privacy-First Analytics
Tracks aggregate page views and traffic sources without cookies or personal identifiers. GDPR compliant. No cross-site tracking. No personal data is shared.
Advertising
Displays contextual advertisements on the platform. Google may use cookies to personalise ads. You can opt out via Google's Ad Settings. Advertisers have no influence over review content.
Rate Limiting
Temporarily stores rate limiting counters (IP-based) to prevent review spam. Data is stored for a maximum of 30 days and contains no personally identifiable information beyond IP address.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address listed in Section 9.
Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate personal data such as your name or email address.
Request deletion of your account and personal data. Note: published reviews are part of the permanent public record and remain on the platform anonymised.
Request removal of any proof files you uploaded. This will downgrade your review badge but will not remove the review itself.
Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON or CSV).
Unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or through your account settings.
We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:
Account data — Retained for the lifetime of your account. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
Published reviews — Permanent. Reviews are part of the public record and remain on the platform even after account deletion, attributed to "Anonymous User."
Proof files — Retained until you request deletion or your account is deleted.
Device fingerprint hashes — Retained for 90 days for fraud prevention purposes, then automatically purged.
Rate limiting data (IP) — Retained for a maximum of 30 days in Upstash Redis, then automatically expired.
RaiseKnowledge is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.
If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal data to us, please contact us immediately at the address in Section 9 and we will delete the information promptly.
